Viola Mae Woodbury; age 89 of St. Louis passed away Friday, July 4, 2025 peacefully at her home surrounded by her daughter and son-in-law. Viola was born August 18, 1935 the daughter of Dale and Evelyn (Morgan) Ward. She graduated from St. Louis High School in 1953. She married Lewis Woodbury in 1956. Viola worked at Newberry’s in Midland in her early years and later worked 17 years for Contech. She enjoyed painting, hunting, fishing, horses, and her Canada and Montana trips. She loved babies and her grandchildren. She was one of the most caring, big-hearted, loving people, and was always quick with her pretty smile. If you showed up and were hungry, she’d fix a whole meal. If you just needed to talk, she listened without judgment. If one needed help with a crafting project, anywhere from woodwork to crocheting, sewing, drawing, or painting, she was the one to ask. Her homemade noodles and fried chicken on Sunday afternoons were a family favorite. Viola always had snacks on hand whether it was cookies, a bag of chips, 2 liter of pop, or orange slices to send home. She always looked forward to seeing any possible trick or treaters that might show up for Halloween. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter Dana (Ed) Lowery; 6 grandchildren Mae Denman, Amy (Jamie) Yates, Sonya (David) Cool, Jessica Kirby, Steven (Val) Fidler Jr., and Samantha Fidler; her brother Ervin (Betty) Ward, 28 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; and special friend Lynn Tuck who she thought of like a daughter. Viola is predeceased by her parents; husband Lewis; siblings Natalie Pascoe, Nellie Schick, Lawrence Ward, Jim Ward, one great grandchild, and two great great grandchildren. Services for Viola will be Thursday, July 10 at 1 P.M. at Berry Funeral Home of Shepherd. There will be visitation from noon until time of service. Interment will take place at Greendale Township Cemetery.
