Raymond Carl Alexander, 96 of Shepherd passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025 peacefully at Comfort Care in Mt. Pleasant with family by his side. He was born April 10, 1929 in Ferndale, MI the son of Thomas Bell and Carrie (Johnson) Alexander. He and his wife Evelyn moved to Shepherd about 60 years ago. He owned and operated Alexander’s Mobile Village, Pete’s Picadilly, and Alexander’s Gun Shop. He retired from Consumer’s Power. He graduated from Michigan State as an agriculture engineer and served in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Alaska. Ray was a true Scotsman. Anyone who knew Ray would understand that statement. He belonged and served at the Shepherd United Methodist Church for 60 years. He had the ability to solve almost any task. Ray worked with 4-H, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts. He always had a big smile and a comment about anything and everything. Ray is survived by his five children Connie (Alexander) and Frank Bongard, Wesley Alexander, Pete and Lisa (Cross) Alexander, Philip Alexander and Benjamin and Bonnie (Balko) Alexander; Ten grandchildren, Jennifer Tubbs, Scott Alexander, Jason Miller, Aaron Bongard, Sarah Bongard, Logan Cross, Landon Alexander, Layne Alexander, Lexi Alexander, Taylor Balko; and five great grandchildren, Kaylee Tubbs, Ryleigh Miller Dougherty, Otis Alexander, and Micah and Zoe Bongard. Ray is preceded in death by his wife Evelyn; both his parents; his brothers Thomas Bell Alexander, John Alexander, and his twin sister Ruth Compeau. Services for Ray will be Friday, September 5th at 1 P.M. at the Shepherd United Methodist Church with visitation from noon until time of service. There will also be visitation from 4 to 8 P.M. on Thursday, September 4 at Berry Funeral Home in Shepherd. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alexanders and will be distributed to Ray’s chosen charities.
