Lawren “Joe” Schrot; age 77 of St. Louis passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at MyMichigan Medical Center of Alma. Joe was born January 29, 1948 the son of Leonard and Arlene (Bouder) Schrot. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was known for being a jokester. Joe built houses and worked for GTE and Verizon for over 20 years. He was also a proud Army Veteran. His great grandchildren thought “he was the best grandpa ever.” Joe is survived by 2 children Jim Schrot of St. Louis and Tanja (Randy) Lalk of Alma; 4 grandchildren Justin (Aftan) Lalk of St. Louis, Kayla (Joe) Klumpp of Mt. Pleasant, Jessie Schrot of St. Louis, and Josie Schrot of St. Louis; 2 great grandchildren Rowan and Graham; 6 siblings Jim (Carolyn) Schrot of Shepherd, Janice (Gary) Smith of Shepherd, Frank (Sheila) Schrot of Shepherd, Sue Schrot of Alma, Jeff (Twila) Schrot of Shepherd, and Donald (Ilona) Schrot of Germany; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog Beany. Joe is preceded in death by both his parents. Cremation has taken place and per Joe’s request there will be no services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Berry Funeral Home of Shepherd.
