Cheryl Kay Meyers; age 87 of Alma passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2025 peacefully at Arbor Grove Assisted Living with family by her side. Cheryl was born November 2, 1938 the daughter of George and Ruth (Saxton) Nemeth. She lived her entire life in Gratiot County and graduated from St. Louis High School in 1956. After graduation, Cheryl started her banking career at Commercial Savings Bank. She volunteered her time as a “Gray Lady” at Alma Hospital and also with the American Cancer Society. Her love of children made Cheryl the favorite baby sitter for many families. When Cheryl had some down time, she loved curling up with a good book at any given time. Cheryl also loved the family 4th of July party, the family cruises, feeding the birds, trips to the casino, and doing family genealogy. She loved history and doing family genealogy to be an interesting way of learning more about America’s heritage. Along with reading mystery novels, she enjoyed traveling the country doing research at courthouses and libraries learning about family members she never knew personally. Cheryl loved her family and is survived by her sister-in-law Milene Nemeth; nieces and nephews Gary (Thao) Nemeth of Missouri, Scott (Lisa) Nemeth of Ithaca, Karen Nemeth of Nashville, MI, and Todd (Marsha) Nemeth of Crystal; 14 great nieces and nephews; 24 great-great nieces and nephews; and her special friend Bruce Hummel. Cheryl is preceded by both her parents and her brothers Garth and Roger Nemeth. Per Cheryl’s wishes, there will be a graveside service on Saturday, December 6 at Salt River Cemetery in Shepherd at 11 A.M. The family would like to thank Arbor Grove and Heartland Hospice for their care and support. Arrangements have been entrusted to Berry Funeral Home of Shepherd.
