Dorothy Ellen Huber, age 81 of Shepherd, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2026 surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. Dorothy was born December 20, 1944 the daughter of Alphonso and Agnes (Prout) Epple in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1962.

 

She was a godly woman in every sense – anchored in her faith, guided by grace, and steadfast in love. Her life reflected quiet strength, unwavering trust in God, and a kindness that touched everyone who knew her. Even in difficult days, her trust in God never wavered. She lived as an example of what it means to walk faithfully, love generously, and trust fully.

 

She loved her family and friends dearly. She cherished each moment spent together. She especially enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren playing sports, dance recitals, any celebration whether it was a birthdays, holidays, graduations, vacations, and simply dining with family and friends.

 

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on in the hearts of her family. She married Gerald Huber on November 30, 1963. Together they had 5 children; Karla (Tom) MacDonald, Don (Kim) Huber, Kathy (Ed) Hall, Kay (Scott) McGuire, and Jeff (Patti) Huber. 15 grandchildren: Jasmine (Nehemiah), Amber (Eric), Mary (Luke), Mike (Andrea), Morgan (Forrest), Brianna (Jordan), Brooke (Brett), Hayden (Samantha), Corey (Kara), Casey (Jordyn), Samantha (Nathan), Tyler, Courtney (Andrew), Heather (Jack), and Spencer. 23 great grandchildren: Matisse, Freya, Odette, Weston, Emma, Owen, Robert, Lailah, Myah, Ariellah, Brynnleigh, Benson, Banks, Karter, Sutton, Bryant, Aiden, Landon, Addilynn, Isaac, Isaiah, Isla and baby girl on the way.

 

Dorothy is also survived by her siblings: Geraldine Bissell, James (Delores) Epple, Alyce (Jim) Gendregske, Donald (Brenda) Epple; and many in-laws of Huber family, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

 

Dorothy is preceded in death by both her parents, husband Jerry, son-in-law Dave Murphy, brother-in-law Don Bissell, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many in-laws, nieces and nephews of Huber family.

 

Services for Dorothy will be Tuesday, April 28 at 11 A.M. at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Shepherd. There will be visitation from 10 A.M. until time of mass. There will also be visitation Monday, April 27  at St. Vincent de Paul Church from 2 to 8 P.M. with a vigil service at 7 P.M. Arrangements have been entrusted to Berry Funeral Home of Shepherd. Memorial contributions can be made on behalf of Dorothy to the Pardee Cancer Society.
