Edward Frank Comstock Sr.
August 9, 1941 – October 11, 2026
Edward Frank Comstock Sr., age 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Ed was born August 9, 1941, and was raised by his parents, Elmer and Lila (Comstock) Letts.
Ed was a hardworking man who enjoyed working with his hands and had a lifelong appreciation for farming and machinery. In his younger years, he worked as a carpenter, and later in life, he enjoyed small farming operations and working with livestock. He had a special fondness for antique John Deere tractors and classic Oldsmobile cars. As a member of the Antique Tractor Club, Ed enjoyed sharing his passion for old tractors with others who appreciated them just as much as he did. One particularly memorable experience was getting the opportunity to meet Richard Rawlings at the famous Gas Monkey Garage.
On October 7, 1961, Ed married Evelyn Hammond, and together they shared 65 years of marriage, building a life centered around family, hard work, and the things they loved.
Ed is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn; his three children, Edward Frank Comstock Jr., Darin (Stacey) Comstock, and Kristy (Greg) Benaske; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his sister, Jenny Letts; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Danial Joseph Comstock; his daughter, Lauri Ann Comstock; his siblings, Alvin, Floyde, and William Letts; and his sister, Donna Carman.
Cremation has taken place, and the family will hold a private celebration of Ed’s life at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Berry Funeral Home of Shepherd.
