James Newman Sr.; age 88 of Remus passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at MyMichigan Medical Center Alma. James was born July 7, 1936 the son of Ervin and Lena (Harper) Newman. James married Linda Ashpaugh and she preceded him in death. He then married Candy Courser in May 2003.
James served in the U.S. Navy. He then worked at Central Asphalt until he retired. James then started a lawn mowing service and was also a driver for the Amish. He was considered a “jack of all trades.”
James is survived by his wife Candy; children Jimmy (Amy) Newman, Jerry (Bonnie) Newman, Kristine (Mike) McCarthy, Gary (Ann) Newman; step-child Derrick (fiancé Trishia) Uebele and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Scott Newman; step-son Warren Uebele; grandson Johnny McCarthy as well as a sister and brother.
Cremation has taken place.
