Jose David Rivas Miranda, age 56, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Henry Ford Hospital.
Jose was born on July 21, 1969, the son of Felix Rivas Rivera and Abigail Miranda Lopez. He spent his early years growing up in Puerto Rico before moving to the United States, where he built a life centered on family, hard work, and the things he loved most.
Jose had a passion for motorcycles and was a true Harley-Davidson enthusiast. He loved rock and roll, especially the music of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Metallica and Journey were among his favorite bands, and he also enjoyed the grunge music that defined the 1990s. He loved gathering around a table for a game of dominoes and, in his younger years, spent many enjoyable hours playing pool and bowling.
Jose worked in construction for many years before later serving in water treatment for the town of Newport, North Carolina. One of the greatest joys in his life was coaching youth football and baseball, especially when he had the opportunity to coach his own sons. He will be remembered as someone who loved spending time with his family and sharing his passions with those around him.
Jose is survived by his three sons, Jose Rivas, Michael Rivas, and Sean Rivas; his two grandsons, Jacob Rivas and Michael Rivas; and his sister, Waresca Rivas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix Rivas Rivera and Abigail Miranda Lopez.
A Celebration of Life honoring Jose will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 5218 West Jordan Road, Weidman, Michigan 48893.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Berry Funeral Home of Shepherd.
