Joshua Hunter Losee

Joshua Hunter Losee, age 32, of Ithaca, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

Josh was born May 31, 1994, the son of Eric Losee and Julie Smith. Josh had a goofy personality and a special way of making those around him laugh and smile. Often the life of the party, he enjoyed spending time with the people closest to him, sharing a good laugh, and engaging in a spirited debate. He had a sharp mind and a competitive side, having been a chess champion during his school years. Josh went on to work as a robotics engineer.

Josh loved being outdoors and had a deep appreciation for nature. He enjoyed bonfires, spending time at Granny’s pond with his beloved dog, Mowgli, and tending to his plants. He found joy in something as simple as planting a seed and watching it grow. He also enjoyed gaming, had a special love for sloths, and was particularly fond of the color purple.

Above all, Josh cherished the people closest to him. He shared a special bond with his grandma Donna, affectionately known as “Granny,” and treasured the time spent with family and friends. His humor, playful spirit, and ability to bring a smile to those around him will be deeply missed.

Josh is survived by his mother, Julie Meyers; his father, Eric Losee; his brother, Cody (Shelbi Brandt) Beach; his grandparents, Donna “Granny” and Rod Losee; and numerous extended family members and close friends.

Josh was preceded in death by his grandmother, Wanda “Ooh-Ooh” Smith, and his grandfather, Gordon James “Rika Pizza” Smith.

Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Ithaca Community Center. Weather permitting, a bonfire will follow at Granny’s pond, a place that held special meaning to Josh.

In honor of Josh and his favorite color, the family encourages those attending the celebration to wear purple.
