Lois Jean Abner, age 78, of Alma, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Lois was born on November 4, 1947. Lois was the biggest cheerleader for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and took great pride in supporting them throughout their lives. She also loved going to the Pixie in Mount Pleasant. To her family, including her many nieces and nephews, Lois was known as someone they could always be real with. She offered a listening ear, a welcoming heart, and a place where they could be themselves without fear of judgment. Her accepting nature and the special relationships she shared with her family will be deeply missed.
Lois is survived by her two daughters, Sher’re Geier and Christina Kolb; six grandchildren, Brandyn, Austin, Trae, Kylie, Christian, and Raegen; four great-grandchildren, Kaid, Greysen, and Haisley; two brothers, Robert (Shirley) Whitehead and Duane (Kathy) Whitehead; and several nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Tretha Gallant; and her siblings, Jerry Whitehead, Shirley Whitehead, and Judy Bendrat.
Funeral services for Lois will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Berry Funeral Home in Shepherd, with Reverend William Chu officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at Salt River Cemetery.
