Phillip Schuler, 61 years old of Shepherd, Michigan, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025 after a courageous battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.
Phil was born on June 2, 1963 in Durand, MI. He served in the United States Army and upon his return became employed with Danly Dieset of Ithaca, where he spent over 30+ years. Phil met the love of his life, Marilyn Leonard at a small diner in Shepherd in 1998. They later married on August 11, 2001 in the backyard of their Beal City, MI home. Phil loved his family deeply. They always came first. He was the type of man that would give you the shirt off his back or the last dollar in his wallet if you needed it. Phil had much respect for the women in his life, his Grandma Brier and mom Katie Schuler who raised him to be the wonderful man he was.
Phil is survived by his wife Marilyn Leonard, 3 children, Taffy Beeg, Mandy Lattimer (Mike), and Buck (Nikki). 12 grandchildren, Tristian, Mikayla, Mattea, Evelyn, Maya, Gracelynn, Brooklynn, Audree, Harley, Dakota, Savannah and Tessa, 3 Great Grandchildren, Everleigh, Ozias and Zealan. His mom Katie Schuler, 3 brothers; Ed, Bill (Maria), Duane (Jody), and a sister Cheryl (Ken) and several nieces and nephews. Phil is preceded in death by his grandma Brier, father Ernest Schuler and birth mother Patricia.
He will be remembered for his big heart, his sense of humor, his strength in the face of adversity, and his unwavering love for his family. To know Phil was to know kindness, loyalty, and genuine warmth. His legacy will live on in the stories shared, the memories cherished, and the lives he touched.
No funeral or memorial services will be held at this time out of respect for Phil’s wishes. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Berry Funeral Home of Shepherd.
