Robert Crane Baker, age 72, of Shepherd, passed away Friday, May 1, 2026. Bob was born February 18, 1954, the son of Donald and Aileen (Ellis) Baker.
Bob was an artistic and talented craftsman with a remarkable ability to build and create just about anything. He loved working with his hands, especially as an ornamental blacksmith, and enjoyed sailing and competitive shooting. Known for his great sense of humor and gift for storytelling, Bob loved sharing horse stories, singing, and reminiscing about his time on Drummond Island.
On August 24, 1991, he married Mary Ellen Linn. Together, they shared a deep love for horses, and much of their life revolved around that passion.
Bob is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; his three children, Anna, Ivan, and Grant Iler; two sisters, Nancy (Gary) Bates and Linda (Dennis) White; his brother-in-law, Richard Linn; his stepmother-in-law, Ginny White-Linn; his sisters-in-law, Rhonda Linn and Annie Linn Dorman; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Robert Linn; and father-in-law, Michael Linn.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 13, at 11 a.m. at Berry Funeral Home in Shepherd. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
