Yvonne A. Elenbaas, aged 91 of Ithaca, Michigan passed away Friday, June 13, 2025, at the Laurels of Carson City. Yvonne was born February 12, 1934, the daughter of Deward and Dorothy (Holton) Divelbiss of Forest Hills, Michigan. She grew up in Forest Hills, where she developed a life-long love of nature that included a passion for flowers and bird watching. Yvonne married James A. Elenbaas of Alma, Michigan in 1953. Together, she and Jim raised their three children with love, understanding, and compassion. Yvonne always cherished her moments spent participating in events at the Whitefish Point Observatory in the Upper Peninsula or, binoculars in hand, watching the birds at Patoka Lake in southern Indiana, the state where she and her family spent much of their lives. Yvonne enjoyed a long career working as a nurse’s aide for well over 30 years, serving the health care community with love and dedication. Yvonne is survived by her three children, James Michael Elenbaas of Ithaca, MI, Thomas Philip Elenbaas of Albion, IL, and Corrinne Elenbaas of Evansville, IN; five grandchildren; Michael of Memphis, MO, Brandon of Memphis, MO, Ryan of Evansville, IN, Emily of Indianapolis, IN, Aaron of Evansville, IN, and several great grandchildren; her brother Robert (Arvella) Divelbiss of Sumner, MI; her nieces Lori Leiter of Ithaca, MI and Lia Corwin of Phoenix, AZ, and her nephew Lonnie (Marsha) Divelbiss of Sumner, MI. Yvonne is preceded in death by both her parents and her husband James. Cremation has taken place, and there will be a memorial service on July 19, at 11 A.M. at the Peace Lutheran Church in Alma with Pastor Thomas Messer officiating. Interment will be held at Salt River Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Berry Funeral Home of Shepherd.
