Edward D Sura; age 85 of Shepherd passed away Friday, May 9, 2025 peacefully at his home surrounded by family. Ed was born January 23, 1940 the son of Andrew and Ann (Chomas) Sura. He enjoyed going to the casino and playing the Michigan lottery with his “lucky numbers.” Ed also enjoyed farming, flowers, and watching the birds. He was an avid sports fan and loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren compete and taking them to the stockyards. Ed married Sharon McClintic April 18, 1964. He also served honorably in the Army National Guard. Ed is survived by his wife Sharon; 5 children Steve (Carolyn) Sura of Shepherd, Angie (Steve) Branigan of Shepherd, Lori Sura of Shepherd, Matt (Terre) Sura of Indian River, and EJ Sura of Dallas; daughter-in-law Amy Sura of Shepherd; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild with 2 on the way; and several nieces and nephews. Ed is preceded by both his parents; his sons Mark and Jon Sura; and his brothers Andy and Paul Sura. Services for Ed will be Monday, May 12 at 11 A.M. at St. Vincent de Paul Church with Father Fred Kawka officiating. There will be visitation from 10 A.M. until time of service. There will also be a visitation held Sunday, May 11 at Berry Funeral Home from 3 to 8 P.M. with a vigil service at 8 P.M. Please feel free to dress casual at the visitation and wearing your favorite sports apparel is encouraged. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made on behalf of Ed to the Area 7 Special Olympics or the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
