Robert Kye Andrews age 45 of Shepherd passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 12, 2025.Kye was born on March 3, 1980 to Nathan and Margie (Green) Andrews. It is difficult to compile all that Kye did and meant to everyone in a few paragraphs because there are not enough words to describe what he meant to his family, all the boys he coached over the years and all his friends but we will attempt it. Kye excelled in sports in his high school years. His real love was for baseball. He was an outstanding baseball coach. Kye coached from youth leagues to the collegiate level. Each and every boy he coached he cared deeply about. He was a mentor and a father figure to many of them. He touched so many lives. He loved the underdog and building up an athlete to be the best version of themselves. His home was an open door to all. Kye loved hunting and fishing. To the dismay of his sons he excelled in every sport he did from bowling, darts, golf to slow pitch softball. Speaking of softball he was his daughter Kianna’s biggest fan during her softball career. When Kianna started coaching for Shepherd JV softball Kye was her go to person for advice. Kye also always seemed to have a “redneck engineering project” going on. He married the love of his life Jillene Sponseller on September 23, 2000. He loved his family and he was their rock. Kye is survived by his wife Jill, their children Kianna, Kye, Kaidan, Lakaia ,Kanoa, Keilani, Ryley and Zachary; father Nathan (Sharon Campeau) Andrews; his mother Margie Stoudt; siblings Kimo (Ashley) Andrews and Kara Andrews; grandmother Luetta Green; his father and mother-in-law Bob and Cindi Sponseller and brother-in-law Doug (Cortney Sanders) Sponseller; several aunts, uncles, nephews; nieces, cousins and numerous close friends. Kye is preceded in death by his brother Kristopher Andrews; grandfather Jerry Green, grandmother Angela Duncan and niece Emily Andrews. There will be a memorial service on Thursday, June 19 at 11:00 A.M. with a viewing at 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the Central Michigan Youth for Christ Church. Located at 2550 Cheeseman Rd., Alma. Kye loved deeply and he will be deeply missed by those who loved him. Arrangements have been entrusted to Berry Funeral Home of Shepherd.
