Marylou Zelis; age 97 of Sumner passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025 peacefully at her home surrounded by family. Marylou was born November 3, 1928 and her parents were Tom and Henrietta (Riggs) Brecht. She enjoyed baking and being outside tending to her flower garden. She was famous for her pie crust and cookies that were always a big hit at family gatherings. She married Lyle Durward Zelis November 4, 1951 and they were married 59 years before his passing in 2010. Marylou is survived by her daughter Shelley Deline of Sumner; 2 grandchildren Jenny (Adam) Davison of Alma and Brandon (Monica) Zelis of Sumner; 4 great grandchildren Aundria (Cameron) Newkirk of Midland, Zachary Davison of Alma, McKia Davison of Alma, and Landon Zelis of Sumner; 2 great great grandchildren Teagan and Taytum; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marylou is preceded by both her parents; her husband Lyle; great grandson Xander Zelis; sister’s Jeane, Helen, Agnes, Betty, and Janet; and brother’s Bud, Dick, Marion, and Kenny. Cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of life at a later date. Interment will be at New Haven Township Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Berry Funeral Home of Shepherd.
